I heart a good podcast, especially when it’s on a long car ride. For some reason in the car, I love learning about new things and a good podcast can be a 30 minute education. I love the crime ones, but with three littles in the back I need to stick to topics that would be okay if they catch a word or two when taking a break from their ipads.
A Piece of Work is a podcast created by MOMA and hosted by Abbi Jacobson who has roots in the comedy world. She interviews and explores artist and work that have some controversy attacted to it. She did an episode on if video games belonged in MOMA as art and Emoijis. Her interviews are light-hearted and informative.
The last episode I heard was about the place of performance art in the art world. Abbi actually is able to interview the artists and hear their take to the work, which is facinating. I remember my own experience of performance art at the Hirshorn when I was 16 and the clowns and TV screens will always leave an impression.
If you have an interest in art or why certain pieces were and are important even if you don’t understand them then this podcast is for you. I’ve learned so much and am always looking forward to the next episode!
