If you are still standing this week after sick kids, bending over wrapping gifts and all those school parties that literally suck the life out of you (or me) and you STILL need a few gift ideas, try these.
Bake. I am not a baker because I hate getting out all that stuff. The flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, vanilla, blah, blah, blah. It makes an enormous mess and if you get the measurements wrong the whole deal, along with the last hour and a half, goes in the trash! But, if you make an easy recipe and get some cute bags or mason jars from the craft store you could totally give a sweet, thoughtful gift. You could even buy the cookies and wrap them up to look homemade! (This is not cheating because I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Barefoot Contessa do this.)
Check out this idea from Polka Dot Chair via Google Images.
Target Dollar Bins. Who does not love the dollar bins at Target? They are in the entrance and filled with cute, little treats for children and adults. Pick out a few and stuff them in a stocking you find in the Christmas aisle.
Pottery Barn is still shipping (for free!) Buffalo Check Throw. I love plaid throws in winter because you can use them cuddled on the couch, but also when you go out to a friend’s house or on a walk or sitting by all those fire pits this season.
CVS Card. This idea I totally stole from the Today Show yesterday. If you are in a serious pinch and CVS or the grocery store are your only options for last minute gifts, do not buy the bag of chocolate and Dove soap! Instead, go the card aisle and get a beautiful holiday card. Write a thoughtful note and fill the card with lottery tickets and a VISA gift card. This will look intention and not like you flaked!
Tickets. Who doesn’t want to see Wicked at the Kennedy Center? Or Bruno Mars at the new MGM or an act at the theater in your town? Yes, it’s a bit risky if you do not know the schedule of the person you are shopping for, but in a bind for a gift, take the risk. Buy the ticket online and print out the receipt and a blown up picture of the show they will be seeing. My daughter will be getting an evening with her mama at Wicked this January under the tree. It promises quality time and a good show!
Good luck, Dear Friends! Thank you for joining me on my new blog. It’s been super fun. If you have any ideas as to what you’d like to see from me I’d love to hear them. Must run to some elementary school holiday parties now! xo
